Container modes: single and gallery
The mode field, set once at creation, decides how many messages a container can carry: a single recording, or a running collection.
Before this page
This page assumes the container/message split from the previous concept page. Containers and messages
single is the default
When mode is omitted, a container is created in single mode: it carries exactly one message. Most use cases — a gift message, a gift card, an in-store activation — need nothing more than this.
gallery accepts several messages
A container created with mode set to gallery accepts more than one message: a running collection that several people can contribute to over time, all reachable from the same container.
mode is fixed at creation
mode only has an effect the first time a container is created for a given crid. Once the container exists, sending a different mode on a later creation call has no effect on it.
Matching use cases to mode
The use cases this portal comes back to most often, with the mode, the message count they imply, and who does the recording.
